#MeToo advocate Kamala Harris' office paid over $1 million in sex harassment and retaliation lawsuits

The California Justice Department reportedly payment of over $1.1 million to resolve claims from employees who were allegedly sexually harassed or retaliated against by co-workers while Vice President Kamala Harris was in office there.

This fact has made headlines because when Harris was the state's attorney general she created the record that she now runs on as the Democratic presidential nominee, as The Daily Mail reported.

Harris first disclosed the payments in 2019, when she was a senator from California and had declared her candidacy for the 2020 presidential election.

The payments were made between 2011 and 2017 when she was the official responsible for the Justice Department of California prior to her election as a senator.

Supposed Stance

Harris, who is a proponent and advocate of the #MeToo movement, stated that she was unaware of the allegations until the Los Angeles Times, which broke the story of the payments, brought them to her attention.

She withdrew from the 2020 primary and subsequently became Joe Biden's campaign mate. She was designated as the Democratic nominee following Biden's withdrawal from the presidential contest last month.

She has the potential to make history in November by becoming the first female president of the US if she is elected.

The right to reproductive health care for women is one of Harris's central campaign platforms. Many women and Democrats were inspired to cast their ballots in the 2022 midterm elections by the prospect of Roe v. Wade being overturned. This time around, the party is hoping for the same result.

She claimed ignorance, but Harris was responsible for the payments: "As the chief executive of a department of nearly 5,000 employees, the buck stopped with me," she said at the time. "No one should face harassment or intimidation in the workplace, and victims of sexual misconduct should be listened to, believed and protected."

Popularity Doubts

The potential lack of popularity on the part of Harris could be part of the reason that the internet has been questioning Harris's "massive" crowd that have been publicly doubted by former President Donald Trump.

“Has anyone noticed that Kamala CHEATED at the airport? There was nobody at the plane, and she ‘A.I.’d’ it, and showed a massive ‘crowd’ of so-called followers, BUT THEY DIDN’T EXIST!" Trump wrote Sunday on his Truth Social platform, reposting a user’s theory about the crowd size, which included photos.

"She was turned in by a maintenance worker at the airport when he noticed the fake crowd picture, but there was nobody there, later confirmed by the reflection of the mirror like finish on the Vice Presidential Plane."

The former president continued, accusing Harris by saying “She’s a CHEATER. She had NOBODY waiting, and the ‘crowd’ looked like 10,000 people! Same thing is happening with her fake ‘crowds’ at her speeches."
