House Republicans Threaten Willis with Contempt Charges

The battle between Republicans and Fulton County DA Fani Willis is heating up.

Willis has already had a devastating ruling come down from Judge McAfee in the case.

Now, however, she may have another obstacle to fight off… contempt charges from House Republicans.

Hit Her When She is Down

As noted above, McAfee has finally ruled on Willis’ disqualification from the case.

Willis now has to choose to step aside or fire the prosecutor she is/was having an affair with… Nathan Wade.

On top of that, Willis found out on Friday that House Republicans are going to hit her with contempt charges.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) issued Willis with a subpoena last month, which stated, “We appreciate that you have produced a narrow set of documents in response to the subpoena, but your compliance with the subpoena to date is deficient.

Jordan then added that his judiciary committee would “consider taking further action, such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings.”

This is all in response to a whistleblower coming forward, Amanda Timpson, who testified that Willis had misused funds from a grant.

Willis has dismissed Timpson’s claims, stating, “The House Committee on the Judiciary should not afford Ms. Timpson a forum to air erroneous claims merely because it seeks to continue its partisan efforts to target and interfere with this Office.”

Willis now has a deadline of March 28 to fully comply with Jordan’s request or face a contempt referral from the House Judiciary Committee to the DOJ.

Normally, I would say that there is no way Merrick Garland would act on the referral, but he set the table by indicting several former Trump associates on this very issue during the January 6 Select Committee investigation.

Jordan knows this and has Garland backed up against the wall, and it would be hard for him to justify not acting on the referral when he acted upon every referral made by the J6 committee.
