Leverage… that is what budget deals are all about when you do not have the majority but still hold enough power to block legislation from going through.
Republicans should have used that budget to get some serious gains.
According to House Republicans, Senate Minority Leader McConnell (R-KY), who I have long advocated needs to be replaced, has sold out the party and caved to Biden and Democrats.
Giving In
House Republicans only wanted a temporary deal rather than a year-long budget deal until after the term flips and the GOP takes over the House.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) stated, "Republican voters fought hard to win back control of the House to take away insane spending control from the Democrats.
"Mitch McConnell is on the verge of taking away House Republicans' power of the purse next year by making a dirty deal with the Democrats."
House Minority Leader McCarthy (R-CA), who is expected to take over as the new House Speaker, stated, "Why would you want to work on anything if we [don't] have the gavel inside Congress?
"Wait until we're in charge."
The omnibus deal that has been reached has already been exposed as being loaded with Democrat fat, yet McConnell is giving in and getting Biden the votes he needs for the spending bill to pass.
McConnell has tried to defend himself, stating, "We're on defense. We're dealing with the cards that we were dealt."
He continued, "Given the fact Democrats have the presidency, the House and the Senate, to meet our defense number and to not pay any bonus to the Democrats on the domestic side… is far and away the best we could do, given the fact that we don't control the floor or the government."
A Senate Republican aide then took a shot at the House, stating, "We've been here before during the Tea Party era. The House will grumble about being left out, but they haven't proven themselves as capable of governing, either."
And McConnell has been in charge of the Senate forever, and he has been failing miserably.
Senate Republicans made a huge mistake putting this man back in charge for the next two years. This is just example one, and I am sure they will be many more.
