“We still don’t have an accurate accounting of the $113 billion we have already sent to Ukraine,” Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) said.
“With the disaster that is taking place on our southern border, why are we even considering this?” he added.

“I feel for Ukraine. But we've got so many other challenges now and this administration knows no bounds when it comes to spending the taxpayers' money,” Rep. Ralph Norman told The Messenger in an interview Thursday.
“We're going to try to block anything that doesn't get the basics in place, which are genuine cuts, which are genuine border control, which is genuine energy independence,” the South Carolina Republican added.
The additional Ukraine aid request includes another $13 billion for security assistance with $7.3 billion for economic and humanitarian work.
Republicans continue to support Ukraine's efforts against Russia. However, the billions of dollars being sent to the nation have led to questions as Americans are ready to focus more on issues at home.
A study from the Brookings Institute also shows that more Republicans are weary of sending aid to Ukraine, with just 28% supporting more assistance, compared to 62% of Democrats. The tensions will likely remain high especially as the 2024 election battle nears.
The new Ukraine request also comes as Congress will soon face another challenge to balance its budget to avoid another government shutdown deadline by the end of September following its return from summer recess that will be impacted by Biden's latest request.
