House Freedom Caucus Removes Member Over Endorsement
The House Freedom Caucus, for the most part, is pro-Trump.
Caucus Chairman Bob Good (R-VA) is more than likely losing his seat after a contentious election with John McGuire.
Reports are now breaking that Rep. Davidson (R-OH) is going to be removed from the caucus for endorsing Trump’s candidate over Good.
He’s Gone
Rep. Bob Good was just in a dog fight against John McGuire, mostly because Good endorsed Ron DeSantis, then Trump endorsed McGuire to get back at him.
It was a really odd squabble within the party because after DeSantis dropped out, Good endorsed Trump.
Trump, however, stated Good’s endorsement was too late, and he wanted him out.
It was interesting in the fact that even though the House Freedom Caucus supports Trump, most of the big names on the caucus were backing Good against Trump’s wishes.
Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX), Andrew Clyde (R-GA), and Andy Biggs (R-AZ) were among those who backed Good.
Roy has not been afraid to speak his mind in this regard, and Trump has not exactly confronted Roy when he has come out against Trump on certain issues.
At one point, Trump pushed back just a little bit, but Roy never backed down, and since then, Trump has more or less left him alone.
This creates a very interesting situation within the party if Trump does get re-elected.
One of Donald Trump’s biggest problems during his first term was his inability to get Republicans on the same page. Paul Ryan often challenged him within the House.
It will be interesting to see if this contingent that does not fear Trump falls in line on positions where they currently oppose Trump if gets elected.
