House Committee Probes DOJ on Supreme Court Safety
The assassination of Donald Trump has created some serious concerns about the security of other government officials who rely on protection.
With Democrats' constant attacks on the Supreme Court, the House Judiciary Committee is now seeking assurances that our Supreme Court justices are protected.
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced that the committee is launching a probe on the subject.
Let’s Check It Out
Jordan sent out a press release on Tuesday that he had penned a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on the safety of our Supreme Court justices.
In part, the letter stated, “On July 13, 2024, all Americans were shocked by the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump as he campaigned for the presidency, an attack that left one innocent American dead and others injured.
“Given the recent incendiary rhetoric directed towards other federal officials, including in particular the men and women serving on our nation’s highest court, we write to understand the steps undertaken by the Department of Justice to ensure the safety of all Supreme Court justices.”
The letter goes on to document some of the attacks against the court, including Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) blatantly threatening members of the court from the steps of the Supreme Court.
Trump survived the assassination attempt, but it was no thanks to the Secret Service.
I don’t want to belittle the brave actions of some of the agents that day, but the fact of the matter is that even the agents covering Trump were not doing it properly.
Other than the one agent toward the rear, nobody seemed to know what they were doing, and Trump’s head and torso were left exposed for minutes.
One agent actually leaned over to pick up Trump’s hat rather than covering Trump, not that it would have helped because she was far too short to be on that detail.
Some may criticize Jordan's letter as a political stunt, but I won’t be one of them.
Based on what I saw last Saturday, the Secret Service has some serious issues to address.
