An absolutely horrible accident took place in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday.
According to reports, there was a scaffolding collapse in the uptown area.
The accident happened at a construction site on the 700 block of East Morehead St. in the Dilworth area.
Horrifying…
After the scaffolding collapsed, it was reported that three people were killed and at least two others were injured.
The workers reportedly fell about 700 feet to the ground, with the wall they were working on collapsing on top of them.
WBT’s Mark Garrison reported, “three construction workers were killed when scaffolding apparently collapsed. The workers reportedly plummeted 70 feet, with a wall then toppling onto them.”
The area was immediately flooded with first responders to try to dig the workers out from the rubble.
The entire area was in shock when the accident occurred, in pure disbelief that something like this could happen.
As horrifying as the accident was, there is some solace that more people were not injured.
This could have easily been an accident that could have left hundreds of people injured and/or dead.
It also shows how amazing our first responders are in this country.
Without fear or hesitation, they went into that area to find whatever victims that were still alive that they could.
From the pictures I have seen, this area was far from stable when those first responders went in there to find survivors.
Our thoughts go out to the families of the victims and survivors who are in the hospital.
We can only hope they survive this horrific accident.
