Homes of Adams’ Top Aides Raided by FBI
The entire nation is now watching the city of New York.
Mayor Eric Adams did not exactly endear himself to the powers that be in the Democrat Party over the migrant crisis.
And now the homes of several of his aides have been raided by the FBI.
Weaponization or Illegal Conduct
Politico reported, “Law enforcement agents raided the Manhattan home shared by Sheena Wright, the city’s first deputy mayor, and her romantic partner, Schools Chancellor David Banks, as well as the Queens home of the deputy mayor for public safety, Philip Banks.”
The home of NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban was also searched, and subpoenas were issued for the cellphones of Tim Pearson, a top adviser for Mayor Adams.
A local station reported that more phones were subpoenaed for at least another seven officers of the NYPD and Terry Banks, who founded a government relations firm.
For his part, Adams is trying to distance his office from any of this controversy.
After the reports about the raids surfaced, Chief Counsel Lisa Zornberg stated, “Investigators have not indicated to us the mayor or his staff are targets of any investigation.
“As a former member of law enforcement, the mayor has repeatedly made clear that all members of the team need to follow the law.”
If you recall, Adams is a retired NYPD Captain, so there is a lot of speculation as to his involvement in any illegal activity being investigated.
Adams told reporters, “The goal is to follow the law. And that is what this administration always stood for, and what we’re going to continue to stand for.
“Whatever information that’s needed, we’re going to turn it over, and I’m going to continue to be the mayor of the City of New York, the greatest city on the globe.”
Adams’ opponents and critics are jumping all over this, trying to connect the dots from Adams’ official right to the mayor.
At the very least, they are contending that this is creating a distraction for the mayor, not allowing him to concentrate on the business of running the city.
It is rather ironic that Adams was a rising star in the party after his election, and now he finds his administration at war with the DOJ.
Regardless of his involvement or lack thereof, I doubt this is going to end well for Adams.
