Home of Aide to NYC Mayor Adams Raided by FBI

FBI agents descended upon the Bronx residence of Winnie Greco, a top aide to Mayor Eric Adams, on Thursday, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the situation.

Greco, who serves as the director of Asian affairs for Mayor Adams with an annual salary of $100,000, has been under investigation by the city Department of Investigation for allegedly leveraging her position at City Hall to secure personal benefits, such as home renovations.

The federal agents cordoned off the area surrounding Greco's Pelham Bay home, where they remained present as of mid-afternoon, as reported by various sources.

Although the exact nature of Thursday's law enforcement activity was not immediately confirmed, a spokesperson for the FBI New York field office acknowledged that the agency conducted "law enforcement activities" at Greco's residence.

Greco's involvement in controversies emerged late last year when reports surfaced of her being the subject of a DOI probe.

Allegations included promising a campaign volunteer a job in the Adams administration in exchange for work on her kitchen and soliciting a $10,000 donation from a prominent Chinese business executive to attend a Chinese-focused event hosted by Mayor Adams at Gracie Mansion.

Greco's association with Mayor Adams traces back to his tenure as Brooklyn borough president, where she served as a volunteer fundraiser and liaison to the Chinese community, facilitating Adams' trip to China on one occasion.

This marks the second instance within a year where a top aide to Mayor Adams has come under scrutiny.

In a separate incident in November, FBI agents raided the Brooklyn residence of Brianna Suggs, another top fundraiser for the mayor, who allegedly was involved in a kickback scheme with the Turkish government.

Mayor Adams' office responded to inquiries by affirming that no federal law enforcement official had contacted the administration regarding the matter involving Greco.

The spokesperson reiterated the administration's commitment to upholding ethical standards and pledged cooperation with any ongoing reviews or investigations, emphasizing that Mayor Adams himself has not been implicated in any wrongdoing.
