Hollywood Goes Dark After Huge Harris Loss in Election
According to reports, Kamala Harris spent about $20 million on the eve of the election for celebrity concerts and endorsements for her campaign.
All that was for naught, however, as they failed to move the needle.
Now all those big stars are sitting on their hands, trying to figure out what went wrong.
Big Names Fail to Move the Needle
If they were a big star, chances were that they would have endorsed Harris in this election.
Tom Hanks, Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez, George Clooney, Bruce Springsteen, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Leonardo DiCaprio are just a few of the big names that fell in line behind Harris (or who "hosted" an event for her).
None of that mattered, though, as Trump had the biggest win of a GOP candidate in two decades.
PR expert Doug Eldridge tried to explain, stating, “There’s a variety of reasons why that might be the case.
“Strategically speaking, had it been closer, you might be hearing more fervent rebukes and calls to ‘resist’ from the celebrity class. However, Trump dominated the Electoral College and won the popular vote.
“The voters, which is a synonym for ‘fans’ in this case, spoke loud and clear. Partisan celebs might have lost the election, but they cannot afford to isolate and lose their fans as well.
“Not everything in life requires a prepared statement or a fully carved-out position.
“Simply allowing the results to settle, the fans to calm and the daily routine to progress, is itself a reasonable, de-escalating response.”
To his point, virtually none of the big names that endorsed Harris have made a statement, which I believe is a good thing.
I think most of them are still in shock, but I fear when they do speak, it will do nothing more than whip up voters to start rioting.
I will be the first to admit that I was shocked there was no rioting after the election results were announced, but I will be even more shocked if we get through inauguration day without any violence in the streets.
But if that does happen, there just might be hope that our country can finally move forward.
