Hillary-produced Play Failing at the Box Office

While we are in the height of Tony season, Hillary Clinton’s “Suffs” could soon be forced to leave its current home on Broadway.

The play, which Hillary is given a producer’s credit for, is now ranked among the bottom 25% on Broadway.

This time of year, successful shows are packed, but those attending “Suffs” apparently have plenty of room to stretch out.

Not Working Well

The play focuses on the suffragette movement circa 1913.

There are numerous challenges to this play.

First, the play is three hours long, and there is no mystery as to how the story ends, so the acting has to be amazing for people to want to devote three hours of their day to the show.

Secondly, I am sure the show will scare some people away with its all non-male cast.

All cast members are either women or non-binary, and that would include key male figures in the play, so I am sure that is keeping history buffs on the right away from buying a ticket.

Of the 35 shows currently on Broadway, “Suffs” is in the bottom 23%, filling the theater at about an 80% clip in recent weeks.

The morning talk shows are generously calling this a “hit” show, with Hillary having already done the circuit to promote it.

While on “Morning Joe,” she stated, “In this election year, we need a lot of joy, to be honest.

“Going to see how the struggle finally ended for women to get the right to vote with the passage of the 19th Amendment is not only a thrilling experience because of the extraordinary work that [Taub] has done in bringing this piece of history to life in such an entertaining way, but it’s so relevant today.”

I have to admit, I love to go see a good show from time to time, but this will surely not be on my list, and by its numbers, it does not appear to be on many other lists either.
