Former Congressman Herb Klein Dies At 93
Democrat Herb Klein, a former New Jersey congressman has died at the age of 93.
Klein served in the House of Representatives from 1993 to 1995.
He was also a successful attorney and lawmaker.
U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell (D), who currently holds the seat Klein sat in thirty years ago, had some words to say upon learning of the news of the former lawmaker's death.
“Herb Klein was one of a kind. A dedicated public servant, brilliant lawyer, and my close friend. I will miss his wisdom and I will miss his counsel,” said Pascrell. “Herb was a pillar in our community who helped lay the groundwork for the Passaic County Democratic Party to grow and thrive. His experience as a congressman was invaluable to me when I ran for his House seat and set up my federal office.”
There were many others who shared kind words about the former congressman. Some of those sentiments included a joint statement from the current governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy (D), and Murphy’s wife, first lady Tammy Murphy.
“Herb was a dedicated public servant who always put his constituents first. Among his achievements, he wrote legislation that established the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and co-authored major banking legislation in Congress. He will be remembered for his devotion to his alma mater, Rutgers University, as well as his contributions to the New Jersey State Association of Jewish Federations and the New Jersey-Israel Commission,” the statement from the Murphys said. “Our hearts go out to his family, his wide circle of friends, and all who knew him. He will be sorely missed.”
No matter where you stand politically, we all can relate to the feeling of losing a loved one and the grief that ensues following death.
Prayers and peace to the friends and family of Herb Klein during this time.
