What would you expect to happen when you do nothing but slam police officers and vow to end the force as a whole?
For the last several years, Seattle has been losing officers at a record pace.
So far, 122 officers have left this year, leaving the Seattle PD grossly understaffed.
To quote one source, “We’re screwed.”
Rising Crime, Fewer Officers
Democrats have yet to figure out that you cannot turn your city over to thugs and expect crime to go down.
Now, the homicide rate in Seattle is not exactly Philadelphia or Detroit, but for Seattle, it is pretty bad.
In August, for instance, there were 11 homicides.
Seattle has not seen a number like that for a single month since 2008.
Former King County Sheriff John Urqhart summed it up best, stating “We’re screwed.”
Seattle Police Officers Guild President Mike Solan stated, “There’s been a mass exodus of policing.
“The profession itself is almost on its last breath.
“And what happens is that criminals fill the void when there’s no law enforcement.
“And when you connect to funding, and then you connect the reform laws that were just absolutely catastrophic to our communities, this is the sad result.
“And who ends up paying the price? Our communities.”
Since 2020, nearly 500 officers have retired or quit in Seattle.
Seattle currently has less than 900 deployable officers, a far cry from the 1,400 to 1,500 staffing levels call for.
Being that understaffed, it is only a matter of time before the rest of these officers leave, or at least a significant number of them.
With zero incentive to be a police officer in a Democrat city these days, I would say Seattle is in dire straits.
