Hegseth Vows to End DEI Policies at Pentagon
This weekend, Pete Hegseth was confirmed as the Secretary of Defense.
Vice President JD Vance had to use his tiebreaker vote to pass him through, as three Republican Senators voted against him.
Hegseth’s first order of business after getting approval was to announce that he would be ridding the DoD of all DEI programs.
They Are Out of Here
The big draw to Hegseth for Trump was his vow to end DEI in the Pentagon, so it was no surprise to see him make this his first order of business.
Hegseth stated, "The President’s guidance (lawful orders) is clear: No more DEI at Dept. of Defense.”
Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) touted the order, posting on X, "The best way to stop discriminating against people on the basis of race or gender is to stop discriminating against people on the basis of race or gender. Let DEI die."
After taking office, Trump signed an order to end DEI in the government.
The order stated, "Yet today, roughly 60 years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, critical and influential institutions of American society, including the Federal Government, major corporations, financial institutions, the medical industry, large commercial airlines, law enforcement agencies, and institutions of higher education have adopted and actively use dangerous, demeaning, and immoral race- and sex-based preferences under the guise of so-called 'diversity, equity, and inclusion' (DEI) or 'diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility' (DEIA) that can violate the civil-rights laws of this Nation.”
We all knew this would be Hegseth’s first order of business, but my question about him remains what he will do about the lack of accountability in the Pentagon.
If you recall, Biden’s Deputy Secretary of Defense did an interview while in office, openly admitting that the Pentagon has no idea what it has and where it has it. How that can even be possible in the computer age is astounding to me.
It is even more concerning when you realize the Pentagon has the biggest budget of any department in the country, nearing $1 trillion.
Hegseth lost his job at his charity over alleged financial mismanagement, so I want to know what he will do to ensure the American people that not a single penny of the Pentagon’s budget will be wasted or unaccounted for.
I seem to be the only one worried about that because not a single Republican Senator demanded he outline his plan to address this issue.
