Harris's 15-minutes are up: report
The Democratic Party is looking for a new leader.
Fox News just published a report looking at who this leader could be.
We can immediately strike two names off of this list. One, of course, is President Joe Biden. The Democrats moved on from him earlier this year, when they forced him out of his reelection bid and replaced him with Harris - without ever holding a Democratic Primary.
The other is Harris. With two major national defeats to her name, it is unlikely that she's going to be leading anything for the Democrats.
Harris's potential replacements
Fox News suggests that there are five contenders for the top spot of the Democratic Party.
This includes U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), U.S. House of Representatives Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
Before going any further, it may be interesting to not that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) did not make the list. This is unsurprising considering his lack of success by Harris's side.
It would appear that, out of the five, it is Newsom who is really looking to take the lead. This is suggested by the fact that, soon after the election, he was one of the first to come out and say that he intends to oppose the incoming Trump administration in whatever way that he can.
Many were surprised that Newsom was selected to run in 2024.
Harris's time is up
We have to admit that this is speculatory. But, it seems unlikely that Harris will be making another run at the presidency. This is suggested by a couple of things.
First off, it is well-known that Harris failed big time in the 2020 Democratic Primaries. There, she had to drop out of the running after failing to receive even a percentage point of support.
It would likely have been a similar story in the 2024 Democratic Primaries, except for the fact that the Democrats skipped the primaries and installed Harris in Biden's place. Americans, though, completely rejected Harris, once again, in the 2024 presidential election.
With these two resounding defeats, it is hard to believe that Harris would be selected by the Democrats to be their leader.
The Republicans, on the other hand, have no such problem. They have any number of strong candidates who can take over after Trump's four years, including Vice President-Elect J.D. Vance.
