Harris suggests she's in favor of packing the Supreme Court
Vice President Kamala Harris, apparently, is not opposed to packing the U.S. Supreme Court.
Harris, according to Fox News, suggested as much during the recent town hall event that was hosted by CNN.
For those who don't know this, Harris, back when she was a member of the U.S. Senate, was actually considered the most liberal senator in the whole upper chamber - even farther to the left than the likes of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
Harris, as the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, has attempted to hide her radical beliefs, but she let some of them slip during this town hall event.
"We can study that"
During the event, Harris was asked whether she, as president, would be in favor of making "reforms" to the Supreme Court, including whether she would be in favor of expanding the court.
"[W]ould you be in favor of expanding the court to say, 12, so each justice has only one circuit court, other than [the] chief justice to assist in making judgments more balanced?" an audience member asked.
Answering questions, of course, is not Harris's forte. As usual, she tried to beat around the bush.
She said:
Well, to your point, there is no question that the American people, increasingly, are losing confidence in the Supreme Court, and, in large part, because of the behavior of certain members of that court and because of certain rulings, including the Dobbs decision and taking away a precedent that had been in place for 50 years, protecting a woman’s right to make decisions about her own body. So, I do believe that there should be some kind of reform of the court, and we can study what that actually looks like.
The bottom line - despite all of the words used by Harris - is that she is clearly not opposed to expanding the court, even though many believe this could undermine our government.
That's not all
This was one of at least two surprises that came during Harris's town hall event. The surprising bit is not the fact that Harris supports these idea but that she is willing to admit that she supports these ideas this close to the 2024 presidential election.
The second surprise was Harris admitting that she is in favor of eliminating the Senate filibuster.
An audience member asked:
Let me ask you, you’ve talked about codifying Roe v. Wade, that would obviously require 60 votes in he Senate, a majority of the Senate …If that’s not possible, to codify it in the house, what do you do?
"I think we need to take a look at the filibuster, to be honest with you," Harris replied.
Even CNN has admitted that Harris's town hall performance was not the success that her campaign was hoping for.
