Harris signs deal with Hollywood talent agency
Failed 2024 presidential candidate and ex-Vice President Kamala Harris just signed a deal with a Hollywood talent agency.
The New York Post reports that Harris signed the deal - with Creative Artists Agency - earlier this week.
This is the same agency that former President Joe Biden recently signed with. There will be more on this in a moment.
First, though, we'll look at the deal that Harris has signed.
The details:
The Post reports:
The unemployed former vice president has signed with a top Tinseltown talent agency that will help her score book deals, speaking gigs and possible film projects. Harris, 60, inked a deal with Creative Artists Agency — the same powerhouse that reps ex-President Joe Biden and Barack and Michelle Obama’s film and TV production company.
The agency, in a statement of its own, said that it will "work closely with Harris on her post-White House initiatives, creating strategic opportunities that expand her platform in support of the issues she has championed throughout decades-long career in public service."
It specifically said that it will help Harris with regard to "speaking engagements and publishing."
Interestingly, Biden signed a deal with this same agency earlier this month. The terms of this deal are less clear than Harris's.
At the time, the Post separately reported:
Former President Joe Biden has made his first known move to monetize his post-presidency, announcing Monday that he will be represented by Creative Artists Agency for as-yet unknown services.
What does the future hold for Harris?
The big question, following her loss in the 2024 presidential election, is what the future holds for Harris.
There has certainly been a lot of speculation. There have been suggestions that Harris is planning to make another run at the U.S. presidency again in 2028. There have also been suggestions that Harris might take a shot at becoming the next governor of California, when the opportunity presents itself in 2026.
Harris herself has not ruled out either possibility. In fact, following the 2024 election, she seemed to make it fairly clear that she is interested in running again. How she feels about possibly becoming the next governor of California is less clear.
Commentators believe, based on her past performance, that Harris stands a much better chance of becoming California's next governor than at becoming the next U.S. president. This is because California is a deep blue state, whereas the United States is not a deep blue country.
Still, there is so much time between now and either 2026 or 2028 that there is no real telling where Harris may end up.
