Harris Scrambling in Days Leading Up to Debate
When Joe Biden and Donald Trump set up the debate, Biden set the rules and Trump just agreed to anything he wanted in order to get the debates scheduled.
Well, after Harris replaced Biden, she did not like the rules, specifically the muted microphones.
She was banking on goading Trump into removing that rule, but it did not work, so days before the debate, her team was scrambling to devise a new strategy.
Foiled
For weeks, Harris has been taunting Trump, basically calling him afraid to debate Harris with open microphones.
Trump never took the bait, however, which is a good thing because the current format forces Trump to take a breath and not give a knee-jerk reaction to something that is said.
It was reported that Harris wanted the microphones unmuted “so that the vice president could lean on her prosecutorial background, confronting the former president in the same way she laced into some of Trump’s Supreme Court nominees and Cabinet members during Senate hearings."
Politico then reported, "Kamala Harris had planned to object, fact-check, and directly question Donald Trump while he was speaking during their debate next week.
"But now, with rules just finalized to mute the candidates when their opponents speaks, campaign officials said Harris advisers are scrambling to rewrite their playbook."
Harris’s camp now says that the VP is being “handcuffed” by the rules, but she can thank her boss for that.
These rules are ideal for Trump, so he really needs to stomp Harris during this debate.
Anything less than a complete knockout will be deemed a Harris win by the media, so Trump needs to leave no space for argument in taking her down.
If Trump delivers a similar performance as he did against Joe Biden, I think we will start to see a big swing in the polls back in his favor.
