Harris Rules Out Religious Exemptions for Abortion Legislation
Kamala Harris sat down with another friendly reporter this week, doing an interview with NBC News Senior Washington Correspondent Hallie Jackson.
Jackson asked Harris if she would be willing to negotiate abortion legislation in terms of concessions if Republicans win the House and/or Senate.
Harris refused to give a full answer, only noting that she would never concede legislation that included a religious exemption for doctors or hospitals.
Not Happening
I have lost count of how many times I have said that Democrats do not really want abortion legislation because they really don’t want the issue solved.
This is their key issue in every election and if they pass legislation, they lose that card.
To that point, when Harris was asked if the GOP controlled Congress, what concessions she would make, including religious exemptions, and she declined.
In other words, she would even want a Catholic hospital to perform abortions.
Here is that segment of the interview all teed up, but you can see the full interview in this video…
“Non-negotiable.” That is the term that Democrats stand by on this issue, which means it will never be solved because it is unlikely that one party would have enough votes in the Senate to beat the filibuster anytime soon.
If you listen to the entire interview, Harris offers nothing but word salads, with no real plan on how she will get any legislation passed in Congress.
All these promises are not realistic because her plans are so radical that she will never get Republican support without significant concessions to pacify them.
Harris continues to try to push the narrative that because she says it will happen, it will happen, but that is just not the way it works.
You have to have a plan that can realistically get through Congress, and nothing she is doing right now suggests she is willing to bend.
