Harris claims she was 'honest with the American people' about Biden's mental acuity: 'Capable in every way'
While interviewing Vice President Kamala Harris, NBC News's Hallie Jackson asked whether she was honest about President Biden's mental capacity.
During the interview, Harris was pressed about how she has interacted with the American people on Biden's mental decline and whether it was the appropriate response, as Fox News reported.
Jackson brought up the fact that Harris has a history of vehemently defending Biden whenever the media asked her about his age.
She was on his side as they ran for reelection as a Democratic ticket, but he dropped out of the race after a disastrous showing in the CNN presidential debate.
The Questions
"Can you say that you were honest with the American people about what you saw in those moments with President Biden, as you were with him again and again repeatedly in that time?"
"Of course," Harris responded. "Joe Biden is an extremely accomplished, experienced, and capable in every way that anyone would want if they're president."
The interviewer pressed further, asking "You never saw anything like what happened at the debate night behind closed doors with him?"
Harris responded, brushing the conduct off, "It was a bad debate. People have bad debates," Harris replied.
More Details
The interviewer then pushed Harris further, asking if that debate was the very reason Harris was there and Biden wasn't still at the "top of the ticket."
The vice president responded, saying that someone would have to "ask him" the reason he wasn't still running for office.
"I'm running for President of the United States. Joe Biden is not," Harris said. "And my presidency will be about bringing a new generation of leadership to America that is focused on the work that we need to do to invest in the ambitions and aspirations of the American people."
Harris took over as the Democrat candidate despite not winning the primary after Biden backed out of the race months ago, just before the Democrat National Convention.
