Haley Moves to Dox Online Users

Nikki Haley has backed herself into a bit of a corner.

This week, she spoke of doxxing all social media users, meaning no anonymous accounts.

The stance did not go over well with a lot of conservatives, with many believing her campaign is now over.

Freedom of Speech

So, the question here is if freedom of speech only occurs if we know who you are, which is what Haley was basically saying.

Haley stated, “When I get into office, the first thing we have to do, social media accounts, social media companies, they have to show America their algorithms, let us see why they’re pushing what they’re pushing.

“The second thing is, every person on social media should be verified by their name. That’s, first of all, it’s a national security threat.

“When you do that, all of a sudden, people have to stand by what they say.

“And it gets rid of the Russian bots, the Iranian bots, and the Chinese bots. And then you’re gonna get some civility when people know their name is next to what they say and they know their pastor and their family members gonna see it. It’s going to help our kids and it’s going to help our country.”

First and foremost, this is nothing more than a headline grab, a bad one, but that was her original intention.

Even as president, she would have no authority to demand that social media companies show their algorithms or comply with any doxxing demand.

Ron DeSantis came out against the stance immediately, citing the Federalist Papers, which were originally anonymous writings.

After seeing the public pushback on her comments, Haley somewhat took the comment back.

She stated that she had no problem with Americans being able to post anonymously, but she wanted to get rid of the foreign bots.

Had she just come out and said that she would like to work with social media companies to rid them of the bots, she would have been fine, but going after a constitutionally protected right, well, that is a disaster for a conservative aspiring to be president.

I take back every recommendation I ever made that DeSantis should partner up with her if he wants to put pressure on Trump.

Her career, for all intents and purposes, is over as a serious conservative.

I will say this, however… don’t be surprised if her polling numbers go up because I can see some moderates, independents, and Democrats who don’t want Trump or Biden to fall in line with her way of thinking.
