Gregg Jarrett: Smith Manipulating Evidence Against Trump

Special Counsel Jack Smith is taking some serious heat in the media right now.

Earlier this week, it was reported that a filing was made with Smith admitting that there were some issues with the classified documents that were confiscated from the Trump household.

Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett then reported that Smith had “misled” Judge Aileen Cannon regarding evidence preservation.

Helping Trump

In just about every case we have seen against Trump, prosecutors have made numerous mistakes that are helping Donald Trump.

In this case, which happens to be one of the cases with teeth against Trump, Smith’s team appears to have done the same thing.

Prosecutors made a filing recently admitting that the evidence had not been preserved as it had been removed from Mar-a-Lago.

Jarrett explained, “Prosecutors have a duty to preserve evidence, Larry, exactly as it is seized.

“Jack Smith’s special counsel admits now in court documents altering, manipulating evidence against Trump.

“The digital scan of documents doesn’t match the physical order in the boxes that were seized.”

He continued, “And Smith got caught. His excuse, ‘well, your honor it is a complicated case, lots of documents,’ that is not an excuse.

“This is evidence tampering. It is destroying exculpatory evidence and even worse, Smith lied to the court and he was forced to admit it although he did so in a footnote, ‘gee, I misled the judge.’ This is no small matter, Larry.”

The filing also had a footnote that its statement was not “consistent” with what prosecutors had previously told the court, admitting that they mishandled the evidence.

This is a disaster for Smith, especially with a judge who has been relatively friendly to Trump during these proceedings.

Trump also responded to the news, stating, “It has always been clear that the ‘Documents Case’ is nothing but an Election Interference Scam concocted by Crooked Joe Biden, Deranged Jack Smith, and their Hacks and Thugs.

“Now, Deranged Jack has admitted in a filing in front of Judge Cannon to what I have been saying happened since the Illegal RAID on my home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida – That he and his team committed blatant Evidence Tampering by mishandling the very Boxes they used as a pretext to bring this Fake Case.”

Jarrett gave Trump the fuel he needed to challenge this case, literally calling it a “set up.”

My guess is that with this recent revelation, either Trump's team will make more filings to ensure a delay or that Cannon will simply decide that all these issues need to be put to bed before they can move forward with the trial.

Either way, there is no way this case is going to see the courtroom later this month as was originally scheduled, and I would be shocked to see it in court before the election.
