Governor Abbott Invokes ‘Invasion Clause’ to Invoke Extreme Measures

Texas Governor Abbott is now going all-in on the border crisis.

Honestly, I thought he had played every card in the deck, but he still had a trump card up his sleeve.

That would be the "invasion" clause of the U.S. Constitution and the Texas Constitution.

Lock It Down

Abbott, on invoking the new measure, stated, "I invoked the Invasion Clauses of the U.S. & Texas Constitutions to fully authorize Texas to take unprecedented measures to defend our state against an invasion."

As you can see in that letter, this extends considerable power to Abbott in terms of returning migrants over the border once they are caught.

Some of Trump's former staffers took a shot at Abbott, calling it a publicity stunt.

They claimed that since Abbott is not out there tracking down all the current illegals in the country, he is not using this clause to its full authority, but that is just a bit ridiculous.

I doubt anyone expects the state of Texas to patrol the entire country looking for illegals.

Let's be happy with the fact that at least the Texas border, from this point forward, will be on lockdown.

I am looking forward to seeing if we see a dramatic decrease in the numbers if Joe Biden tries to take credit for the work that Abbott is doing.
