GOP Wants Rep. Bennie Thompson Banned from Task Force

The Homeland Security Committee is putting together a task force to investigate the assassination attempt of Donald Trump.

The pro-Trump Freedom Caucus, however, has one request of the committee.

That being to leave out ranking Democrat member Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS).

Biased

Thompson, if you recall, was a co-chair of the Pelosi’s rigged January 6 Select Committee.

Thompson also sponsored legislation that would have stripped any convicted felon of Secret Service protection if they were sentenced to jail (the legislation was clearly targeting Trump).

Thompson has continued to defend his legislation, which led to the complaint filed by the Freedom Caucus against Thompson.

The statement read, “His actions should invalidate Rep. Thompson from serving on the task force to investigate the attempted assassination of President Trump.

“Americans cannot trust that he will be an unbiased arbiter of the facts in the effort to get to the bottom of the greatest failure of the Secret Service in more than three decades.”

Thompson, as usual, has been defiant, stating, “In any case, I will continue to serve as top Democrat on the Homeland Security Committee because I was selected by my Democratic colleagues, not the Freedom Caucus.”

Honestly, I would like to see all Democrats removed from the task force, but let’s be realistic about this, if there are no Democrats on the committee that support the eventual report, there is no way the media would take it seriously.

We can only hope the Democrats put their bias aside in this case and report on the assassination attempt truthfully.

Speaker Johnson (R-LA) and Minority Leader Jeffries (D-N.Y.) announced the task force earlier this week.

The task force will consist of seven Republicans and six Democrats, but the overall makeup has not yet been announced.

Ultimately, the respective party leaders will decide who is on the committee.
