GOP Senator opposes Trump's plan to use military to deport illegal immigrants

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is not on board with President-Elect Donald Trump's plan to use the U.S. military to conduct mass deportations of illegal immigrants from America.

The Hill reports that Paul made his position on the subject known in an interview that he did on Sunday.

The interview took place on CBS News's Face the Nation. It was conducted by anchor Margaret Brennan.

Whenever a congressional Republican has anything negative to say about Trump, that Republican will always get air time on a leftist media program such as this one.

Paul says he will not support Trump on this

During the interview, Paul made it very clear that he will not be supporting Trump on this particular issue.

Brennan began by asking Paul:

What we know now about the immigration authorities who would have to be charged with rounding these individuals up, there are just 6,000 agents, 41,000 detention beds to carry out the assignment of rounding up millions of undocumented people, potentially. How do you suggest they implement it? And if this is a red line for you, in terms of using the military, would you vote no on the DHS Secretary Kristi Noem?

This is when Paul said very bluntly that he would not support the use of U.S. military to deport illegal immigrants.

"I will not support and will not vote to use the military in our cities. I think it’s a terrible image," the senator replied.

Paul, however, did say that he would use other resources, including “the FBI . . . Immigration and Customs Enforcement] . . . [and] Border Patrol.” Paul said that, overall, he is not opposed to "removing people."

Either is Trump

Trump has made it very clear, both before and after he was elected in the 2024 presidential election, that he plans to fix the southern border crisis, including by carrying out mass deportations.

The big question has been how Trump will carry out this plan, and this is where the question comes up about whether Trump would consider using the U.S. military to do it. Trump has suggested that he would.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton recently posted a message to social media, which stated, "GOOD NEWS: Reports are the incoming @RealDonaldTrump
administration prepared to declare a national emergency and will use military assets to reverse the Biden invasion through a mass deportation program."

In response to this message, Trump wrote, "TRUE!!!"

The specifics, though, remain unclear.
