GOP Pressuring DOJ to Drop Charges Against Gold Star Father

Last week, during Joe Biden’s State of the Union (SOTU) address, you may have heard a man screaming at Biden when he stated he had made our country safer.

That yelling came from Steven Nikoui, who lost his son during Joe Biden's haphazard withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Nikoui was arrested and charged after his outburst, and now the GOP is pressuring the Department of Justice (DOJ) to drop the charges.

Let Him Go

Capitol Police stated after the arrest that they had given Nokoui several chances to quiet down before taking him into custody,

When he refused and kept screaming, he was removed from the event, arrested, and charged.

He was later released on $50 bail and now faces jail time and a possible $500 fine.

Nikoui’s son, Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, was one of 13 soldiers who died during the Afghanistan withdrawal, so Republicans, and even a few Democrats, were telling Biden and the DOJ to back off.

For instance, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) stated, “They have every right to say, ‘Where is that explanation?’

“’Where is that apology? Where is the legitimate investigation so it doesn’t happen to somebody else’s family?’”

Another Gold Star father, Darin Hoover, offered up some context behind the outburst, explaining, “If you know Steve, he’s a very Christian man.

“He’d been thinking about it, and it’s been bugging him for a while because we haven’t gotten any of those answers … still nothing two and a half years later.”

If this administration has any class at all, it will have the charges against Nikoui dismissed and even invite him to the White House along with the other families for a little chat with Joe Biden.

While the charges may wind up being dropped, I doubt Nikoui will be on the White House guest list anytime soon because there are two things that Joe Biden does not do well… confrontation and admitting he screwed up.

Half the problem here, however, is the media, as the entire story has been pretty much brushed under the rug.

Now, let’s pretend there is a Republican in office and it was the family of George Floyd disrupting the SOTU address… how do you think the media and Democrats would have reacted to that?
