GOP Members of Congress Want More Answers Regarding Iran Envoy

Earlier this year, Joe Biden’s special envoy to Iran was placed on leave.

Rob Malley had been caught mishandling classified information, but the problems go far deeper than that.

Malley, if you recall, also worked in the Obama administration, so GOP officials want to dig as deep as possible to see just how damaging his time in these administrations has been.

We Need to Investigate

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is leading this charge.

He stated, “Rob Malley deserves extensive scrutiny — yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

“These reports could not be more concerning, and they hint at what could be the worst State Department scandal since Alger Hiss.”

Gabriel Noronha, a former special adviser on Iran at the State Department, added, “Malley and others created an incredibly permissive environment for Hamas, for Iran, to do all these things.”

Noronha worked under Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, adding that Malley and his team “purposefully funneled billions of dollars to [Iran] through lack of sanctions enforcement and provision of sanctions relief that has given them somewhere between $50 [billion] and $80 billion over the last two and a half years.”

People seem to have forgotten that just before leaving office, Obama handed over $1.7 billion to Iran.

The Biden administration keeps leaning on the idea that the $6 billion Biden just freed up is going go to only for humanitarian purposes.

Iran’s president had a little something to say about that in September.

When asked about that money, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stated, “This money belongs to the Iranian people, the Iranian government, so the Islamic Republic of Iran will decide what to do with this money.”

When he was directly asked if the money would be spent in other areas, he continued, “Humanitarian means whatever the Iranian people need, so this money will be budgeted for those needs, and the needs of the Iranian people will be decided and determined by the Iranian government.”

Now, if I could find that quote, please tell me why White House and Pentagon reporters are not countering any claim by any Biden official with Raisi’s statement when they ask questions and Biden officials use the humanitarian angle for defending the release of the funds.

How is a hack writer like me better prepared for a White House presser than writers with teams of research assistants working for them every day?

The answer, my friends, is simple… state-run media.
