GOP Making Plans to Counter Moves by Dems to Block Mayorkas Impeachment

Recently, the House passed impeachment papers against Secretary Mayorkas.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has vowed to floor the impeachment, however, the GOP believe he is only going to do so in order to block it.

The belief here is that a Democrat Senator will move to drop the charges as soon as the papers are floored, with only a majority vote needed to make that happen.

Maximum Pain

If the Democrats follow through with that plan, GOP Senators are readying a plan to go after Democrats for sweeping the impeachment under the rug.

That would be the exact opposite of what happened when the GOP controlled the Senate and Trump's impeachment papers were presented.

Schumer does not need to table this vote to win it, as numerous GOP Senators have already said they would not vote in favor of the impeachment.

For instance, Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) has stated hat he does not believe that Mayorkas has committed a high crime or misdemeanor to justify the impeachment.

Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) has also hinted that she would vote in favor of tabling the impeachment, which would be a disaster for the GOP.

Regardless of the possible bipartisan vote to dismiss, GOP senators who want to see this trial take place are already putting a plan in place to create as much damage to Democrats as possible, and we have to assume the same for the GOP senators who would vote to table the impeachment.

Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN), for instance, will accuse Democrats of violating impeachment rules if the impeachment gets tabled.

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) has also hinted at creating havoc in the Senate if the impeachment gets tabled, stating, “If Schumer enacts this ‘nuclear option’ on impeachment, I think anything’s on the table.”

I have always backed this impeachment, knowing it would fail in the Senate, solely because I believe that most Americans are completely unaware of how rogue Mayorkas has gone in violating our immigration laws.

The only TV time this gets is when Mayorkas expresses outrage at Republicans over daring to question the reasons why the borders have been opened up and millions of illegals have been able to cross during the Biden administration.

Having said that, in order for a failed impeachment to serve a purpose, we need every Republican in the Senate to be on board, and that is simply not the case right now.
