GOP Livid After Schumer Forces Through Legislation on Border
Just the other day, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) stood on the Senate floor to warn Republicans not to go to extremes.
He warned them to work in a bipartisan fashion to pass meaningful legislation.
Then he turned around and forced through legislation, avoiding the usual committee debate, that could hamstring Trump on the border, but Senator Susan Collins called him out on it.
Won’t Get Away with It
Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) made a statement this week that Democrat leadership made a "unilateral decision from the Majority to post a partisan measure on a critical appropriations bill that is meant to help secure our borders and combat the surge of deadly fentanyl and other illegal narcotics flooding our communities."
The Appropriations Committee ranking member shredded Schumer for the move, stating that it "undercuts our efforts over the last two years to reach bipartisan consensus and allow Senators an opportunity to debate and amend appropriations bills."
Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) was also livid about the sneaky move pulled by Schumer, stating, "On a unilateral, partisan basis, Senate Democrats chose to post a Homeland Security bill that falls woefully short of what’s needed to combat America’s border crisis and strengthen interior immigration enforcement.
"Senate Democrats know [Trump] is going to immediately take action to clean up the Biden-Harris Administration’s mess at the border, so instead of working with Republicans to create a responsible appropriations bill they chose to release a product that would leave a Trump Administration short of the resources they need to secure our border."
Some of the key features of the bill noted by Republicans were $750 million in taxpayer dollars to resettle illegal immigrants, the continuation of the CBP app that has allowed migrants to bypass normal asylum processes, and more money from resettlement facilities while taking money away from CBP border operations that would allow more illegals to pass over the border before Trump comes into office.
Schumer, of course, has not commented on the matter, even though there have been numerous attempts to contact him on this.
Hopefully, once Donald Trump gets into office, many of these corrupt Democrats will eventually be held responsible for their actions.
Liberals have been treating America's federal government like their private playground for far too long.
It's time they answer for their crimes.
