GOP Governors Ready to Go All-In on Trump Deportation Plan
Donald Trump has a very aggressive immigration plan, and it would appear that the majority of the Republican governors in office are going to get behind it.
The 26 Republican governors in office just signed a unity pledge to back Trump and his agenda.
Now if we can just get a couple of Democrat governors, it just might work.
Blocking Trump
After Trump was elected, several Democrat governors announced they were going to do whatever they could to Trump-proof their state or outright block his agenda.
At the top of that list will be Trump’s desire to empower local law enforcement to assist ICE, something most Democrat governors have already stated that they would not comply with.
Republican Governors Association (RGA) Policy Chair Henry McMaster headed the effort by the GOP governors to back Trump.
The letter that all the governors signed stated, "As Republican governors, we stand united in support of President Donald Trump’s unwavering commitment to make America safe again by addressing the illegal immigration crisis and deporting illegal immigrants who pose a threat to our communities and national security.”
A big part of Trump’s plan will rely on cities holding illegals for ICE, something Democrat sanctuary cities have not been doing.
We have all seen the stories in the news of an illegal immigrant who has been arrested but not turned over, going on to commit more serious crimes against members of these communities.
I simply do not understand why voters are allowing their elected officials to put people breaking the law to enter this country above their own safety and well-being.
While most Democrat governors have pushed back against Trump, there are a handful that have stated voters clearly want change, so they are willing to try to find common ground with Trump once he takes office.
If that includes turning over illegals for immediate deportation remains to be seen.
I, for once, am looking forward to seeing Tom Homan come in and drop the hammer on any city or state that refuses to comply with these deportation orders.
