GOP Fuming Over Late Mail-in Ballot Counting in California

I think most people would agree that we need to see our election results on election night.

If you cannot get absentee and mail-in ballots counted that day, then start counting them early.

To that point, California, weeks after the election, is still counting mail-in ballots, and the GOP has had about enough.

Give It Up

If there is one way to make an election seem corrupt, it would be holding off declaring a winner until weeks after an election.

Even worse is when one person is up large on election night, but weeks later mail-in ballots flip the race.

Whether it’s legitimate or not, the optics make it appear that votes were found to have the desired outcome by the local party.

To that point, RNC co-chair Michael Whatley blasted California for counting ballots that arrived up to seven days past the election.

He stated, "It is absurd for California to accept ballots by mail up to 7 days after Election Day and take almost a month to count them.”

With early voting, there is simply no excuse for this, yet Dems will say that people like Whatley are disenfranchising voters.

Gates McGavick, senior adviser to Whatley, "The RNC, NRCC, and CAGOP's election integrity operation was on the ground in California before Election Day, on Election Day, and has continued working ever since November 5th. Our attorneys and trained volunteers are in place to ensure transparency throughout the election process.”

I am all for making voting more accessible to everyone, but as I noted many times, with most states now allowing in-person voting for about two weeks before election day, there is no excuse to be late.

And if you cannot get the ballot in by the election, well, that is on you.

The fact we still have election results being announced three weeks after the election took place is just pathetic.
