Good Samaritan Threatened with Arrest for Helping Hurricane Victims

The one amazing thing about our country is that regardless of the political animosity and battles, in times of need, Americans always rally to help.

And I am not just talking about money and supplies.

But people put themselves in danger to help… it is just something that happens in this country but it may not be the case for much longer.

Just Helping

I can still remember when all that flooding took place in Louisiana and the Cajun Navy snapped into action.

These were all private citizens with boats who started patrolling flooded neighborhoods to rescue people who were trapped.

That is what Jordan Seidhom and his son were doing when they were threatened with being arrested.

Seidhom is the former head of the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit, and he also happens to have access to a helicopter.

Considering some of these people are trapped on mountains with no supplies, he figured his skillset would be useful.

And it was, until it wasn’t.

After a full day of helping people, Seidhom and his son went back for more, but a Lake Lure official told them that if they continued to help people, they would be arrested.

Seidhom explained, “He originally asked me who I was. I gave him the same information, who I was with, my background experience, law enforcement, and firefighting. And his response was, if you have that kind of experience, you should know that you should be coordinating with us.

“And I said, I’ve been coordinating with everybody as I’ve been here just the day before, speaking with local law enforcement, other rescue personnel.”

After more discussion, he was threatened with arrest, explaining, “I’m going back and getting my copilot. He said, ‘If you turn around and go back up the mountain, you’re going to be arrested.’ I said, ‘Well, sir, I’m going back to get my copilot, I don’t know what to tell you.'”

Some local authorities intervened to help Seidhom, as he explained further, “They came back over and said, ‘Hey, man, we can’t tell you to go get the victim. We can’t even ask you to go get the victim, but we can tell you if you come back with the victim, we’ll have you a designated landing spot and we’ll make sure they don’t come over here.

“So, at that point, I felt like the other person was going to pressure him to arrest me when I come back with the victim and then my son would have been left on the side of a mountain with this person to go and rescue him.”

Keep in mind, why they were fighting with someone trying to help, some rescue operations were halted because of the terrain.

Democrats changing everything about this country, and not in a good way.
