Gold Star Mothers Come to Defense of Trump Amid Arlington Criticism
As we reported last week, Donald Trump came under serious fire for having had photographers with him when he went to a memorial service at Arlington National Cemetery to honor our 13 fallen from Afghanistan.
The media and Democrats jumped all over Trump, but as more details emerged, it was clear that Trump was an invited guest and the families had asked to have the pictures taken with Trump.
Several members of the families involved had already defended Trump, and now there is a fresh round of support from Trump from a group of Gold Star mothers.
We Wanted Him There
As I have stated before, I am not a big fan of politicians taking pictures at Arlington National Cemetery.
I am not talking about the ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, but the big smiles and thumbs-up pictures over the graves of our fallen.
However, as I stated at the time, if that is what those family members wanted, who am I to question it?
Coral Doolittle, the mother of one of our fallen, spoke up this week to defend Trump from the attacks.
Doolittle is the mother of Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez. She stated, “[Democrats] politicize everything.
“For them to just make everything, turn everything around and say, ‘He’s doing it wrong. He’s breaking the rules… It’s just a lie. It’s just a lie
“President Trump paid his respect to our kids, to all … 13 kids, and he’s the only one that actually takes time to meet with their families, to talk to their families, to honor our kids and say their names
“President Trump knows our 13 kids’ names.”
Kelly Barnett, the mother of Staff Sgt. Darin T. Hoover, added, “It was a beautiful day. President Trump has been a source of peace and a shoulder to lean on and [a] listening ear for us from, you know, the beginning. And, so, it was a beautiful day”
Trump’s visit was never a “campaign” stop, at least not until Democrats tried to make it one.
Them calling out Trump turned into a campaign weapon as there are now videos all over the internet from these Gold Star families supporting Trump.
I think it is safe to say that Harris’ little stunt backfired.
