Girl Who Made Oprah Cry Over AIDS Diagnosis Dies at 39

Hydeia Broadbent had her first 15 minutes of fame talking to Oprah Winfrey, bringing the iconic talk show host to tears.

At the age of 11, she was on Oprah’s TV show, telling her how she had been born with AIDS, and there was not a dry eye in the house.

That little girl made it to 39, but sadly, she has passed away.

Sad Day

The outlook for AIDS patients was not good 30 years ago, so the fact that Broadbent made it this far is nothing short of a miracle.

AIDS was basically a death sentence at the time, but somehow she made it another 28 years before it finally took her life.

She did not waste her time, using that brief fame to become a staunch activist in the fight against AIDS.

Broadbent’s family announced her death on social media earlier this week, stating, “With great sadness, I must inform you all that our beloved friend, mentor, and daughter Hydeia, passed away today after living with AIDS since birth.

“Despite facing numerous challenges throughout her life, Hydeia remained determined to spread hope and positivity through education around HIV/AIDS.”

This girl never had an easy life, born to a drug addict that abandoned her as an infant, she would later be adopted by Loren and Patricia Broadbent.

When she was about four years old, Broadbent found out that she had AIDS, and had it since birth.

She accompanied her parents on AIDS awareness events, but then she started making appearances on her own even before she could get a driver’s license.

As you can see, she represented herself very well when talking about the disease, just as she did when she went on national television, moving the entire nation to tears with this appearance…

Rest in peace, young lady, for you did not deserve your fate.
