Georgia Republicans Approve New Election Rules Before November

Georgia lawmakers have approved legislation that would give clearer guidelines for voter eligibility challenges, strengthen the security of paper ballots, and introduce new rules for qualifying for the state's presidential ballot.

The good news is called Senate Bill 189.

Senate Bill 189 is a response to the influx of voter challenges in the state following the extremely controversial 2020 presidential election.

Georgia was one of the main places where Donald Trump and his team claimed that voter fraud had occurred.

As a result, Republican lawmakers in swing states appear to be on the same page that voting restrictions should be tightened heading into 2024.

Americans want to be sure that their president was elected fairly and squarely, but a huge percentage of the population did not believe that happened in 2020.

If citizens stop trusting the results of our elections, then what is the point of these elections in the first place?

In regards to qualifying for the presidential ballot in the state, the bill allow "any political party that has qualified to be on the presidential ballot in 20 states" to be on the ballot in Georgia.

This would make it easier for independent candidates like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to qualify for the presidential race in Georgia.

The bill has already been approved by the state's House and Senate already, and is currently headed to Republican Governor Brian Kemp's desk.

Americans NEED to be able to trust the results of the 2024 election.

If another mess happens in 2024 like happened in 2020, American citizens may simply never trust the results of our elections ever again.

Our entire democracy is based on the idea of free elections and the sentiment that every vote counts.

Without America's fine traditions of elections, this country would have never become as great as it has, and it's important our lawmakers realize that.
