Georgia Activist Mayor Spent Thousands of Taxpayer Dollars for Foreign Trips
South Fulton Mayor Khalid Kamau claims to be the first Black Lives Matter activist in America.
Like Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, he has a thing for going on international trips unrelated to his office.
To that point, he has been caught spending more than $25,000 on foreign trips with taxpayer money.
Charge It
According to the report, Kamau allegedly spent about $26,000 on trips, which were reportedly charged to his city-issued purchase card, which is paid with taxpayer money.
Councilwoman Helen Willis was asked if the mayor had made unauthorized purchases with his card, and she responded, “It appears so. Within the last fourth quarter of 2024, it was approximately $26,000.”
Among the alleged charges was a trip to Africa, with Willis stating, “It’s a pretty large amount of unauthorized charges, mainly for international travel.”
Kamau, who was first elected in 2017 and prefers to be called “Mayor Kobi,” has been posting pictures on his social media documenting his trip, which included a nearly three-week trip to Ghana.
Among other photos, he was seen in a popular nightclub dancing with two women.
Local resident Richard Snelling stated, “I wanted to find out if taxpayers paid for this trip.
“We should not be asked to go without something so that our elected officials can travel all over the globe.”
The City Council is now asking for Kamau to explain himself, and he is claiming this is all a smear campaign against him.
His office stated, “It’s really a smear campaign. You will see in the meetings, the people who are talking the most are running for mayor in 2025.”
That, my friends, is called deflection. You notice there was no explanation for why a local mayor needed to travel to Africa for nearly a month on taxpayer money.
They are all corrupt, and this is why they all run for office. It is “The Distinguished Gentleman” coming to real life.
I don’t care what level of government, most of the people running for office these days are doing so to get rich, not to truly serve the people of their community.
