George Santos Pleads Guilty in Fraud Case

Finally, the drama surrounding disgraced former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) is over.

Santos pleaded guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft on Monday.

Santos had denied the allegations while still in Congress, but an investigation led to his expulsion from Congress.

Too Greedy

Santos blamed ambition as the reason for his crimes, claiming that he is now “flooded with regret”

Personally, I don’t believe a word that comes out of this conman’s face, as he is only now repentant because the evidence against him was stacked so steeply.

If you ask me, he only ran for office to get his hands on campaign cash, which he used to upgrade his life immediately.

Santos is not going to get off scot-free from this, however. He is expected to spend several years in jail and be forced to make restitution for more than $500,000 in stolen funds.

Santos will remain free on bond until his February 7 sentencing hearing.

In addition to stealing the money and duping voters, Santos stole the identities of 11 different people, including family members, to funnel money into his campaign, which he then stole.

Santos stated, “I betrayed the trust of my constituents and supporters. I deeply regret my conduct.”

He added, “Pleading guilty is a step I never imagined I’d take, but it is a necessary one because it is the right thing to do.

“It’s not only a recognition of my misrepresentation to others, but more profoundly, it is my own recognition of the lies I told myself over these past years.”

Forgive me for taking a victory lap on this one, but I called this from the moment I saw Santos, and took considerable heat for calling out a GOP House member as being a fraud while members of the Freedom Caucus were embracing him as one of their own.

I despise political corruption, regardless of which side of the aisle I find it on, and I will always work to expose it.

I have zero loyalty to anyone who deceives people and preys on their vulnerabilities, and Santos did that for years.

He is getting exactly what he has coming to him, and I hope he does every day of his sentence, whatever that winds up being.

He is a con man and a criminal… and now he will pay the price.
