Gavin Newsom Trying Executive Action To Penalize Oil Companies

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, has been accused a few times by Democrats for trying to distance himself from them by favoring some common-sense policies, such as those regarding our southern border.

As a result, it's little surprise that his latest efforts to punish oil and fuel and gas companies for alleged price gouging was thwarted by his state's liberal-dominated legislature.

However, Newsom still plans to accomplish his goal. How?

Executive action.

Newsom hasn't had to do anything like this in the past because he usually has the support of almost every other politician in this state.

However, Democrats don't want to take action on this issue, because doing so would be admitting the damage they caused by sending out "inflation relief checks" during 2022.

It really is mind-blowing to realize that they thought they could fix inflation by causing inflation. Printing more money was never going to help normal people. In fact, it could be argued that it hurt the citizens of California because of the rampant scams that occurred involving the checks.

Additionally, the checks even accidentally raised federal taxes owed by the recipients because they were not actual refunds.

Newsom didn't want to take responsibility and just blamed oil and gas companies for the high price of fuel.

Since imposing more taxes on the oil and gas companies would be illegal, Newsom wants to use executive action to impose PENALTIES, not taxes.

The AP is reporting that Newsom is now turning to the California Energy Commission to decide if the penalty is necessary and how much the companies should be fined.

Apparently, the commission would be helped by a new independent agency made up of experts, economists, and lawyers that would have the power to monitor the gasoline market.

Ah, great. MORE political spending and government control. Just what America wanted. (Rolls eyes...)
