Trump Continues to Gain Ground in Polls After Latest Indictment

There really is no stopping Donald Trump at this point.

Every time the man gets in more legal trouble, voters rally behind him.

This is now happening to the point that he has passed the 60 percent threshold in the latest CBS News poll.

Unprecedented

I have eaten several plates of crow over this already, believing that even some of his base would move away once it became possible that he could be convicted, but that has not happened.

The latest polling was, quite frankly, shocking, reported Axios.

Trump is taking a lot of heat for not attending the debates, but with a 62-16 edge, even if he gets hit, it will not be enough to remove him as the overwhelming favorite.

Trump has GOP voters convinced that this is not only an attack against Donald Trump, but also an attack against them. The more Trump fights, the more they believe Trump is fighting for them.

That is backed up in the polling, with 95 percent saying they believe Trump “fights for people like me.”

A whopping 71 percent believe that Trump is telling the truth more than the family or friends, the media, and even religious leaders.

When that stretches out to all GOP voters, Trump still has a 53 percent truth rating.

Clearly, Ron DeSantis is the only person that has a shot, but without Trump attending debates, I am just not sure how much ground DeSantis can make up.

The key for DeSantis is to get Ramaswamy out of the race, as I believe most of the other candidates will be out by South Carolina.

DeSantis needs to get this to a heads-up battle as soon as possible or he has no chance. He can get past South Carolina, but if he goes to Super Tuesday with one or two other candidates, this race is over by the time they count the votes that night.

Right now, indictments or not, this race is Trump’s to lose.
