"I will be introducing legislation to DEFUND Jack Smith’s witch hunt against President Trump," Gaetz wrote on Twitter after news of a letter from Smith to Trump was announced this week.
"They are attacking our democracy and engaging in election interference right now. The United States Congress has the capability to stop this election interference, and we must act immediately!" Gaetz added.

"Trump said he initially received the letter on Sunday and said he expects to face both an arrest and indictment," according to Fox News on Monday.
"A government source with direct knowledge of the situation also told Fox News that Smith’s office sent Trump a target letter," it added.
"THIS WITCH HUNT IS ALL ABOUT ELECTION INTERFERENCE AND A COMPLETE AND TOTAL POLITICAL WEAPONIZATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT," Trump wrote in a statement.
"It is a very sad and dark period for our Nation!" the statement added.
The indictment might not be the last one against Trump. A possible fourth indictment continues to remain under discussion in Georgia where an investigation continues over the former president's alleged claims to interfere with 2020 election results in the state.
The news has been a bombshell to Trump and to many Americans who see the case as politically motivated with its timing over two years after the events as the former president dominates polls in a potential rematch against President Joe Biden.
