Former WWF Star Arrested for Murder

So, if you are like me, you traded in the cartoons for wrestling on weekend mornings when you were a kid.

At one point, that included watching the likes of Billy Jack Haynes grappling with some of my favorites, such as Randy “Macho Man” Savage.

Sadly, Haynes’ life has taken a horrible and tragic turn.

Life Turned Upside Down

It is quite unfortunate that the story you are about to read is not an isolated incident.

Haynes has been arrested on charges related to the shooting death of his wife, Janette.

Last week, local police responded to a report of gunfire at Haynes’ Oregon home.

When police arrived, a standoff ensued, with SWAT being called in.

Eventually, Haynes surrendered, which is when police discovered his dead wife in the house.

If you are or were a fan, you may recall that Haynes was part of a lawsuit filed against the WWE (which was the WWF when Haynes was wrestling) over chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE.

This is the condition that came into the spotlight for NFL players who had suffered multiple concussions.

Haynes’ lawsuit, which had been joined by dozens of former wrestlers, was eventually dismissed.

This is a condition that we unfortunately have no way of diagnosing until after death, so we won’t know if this was responsible for the mental state of Haynes that allegedly led to him taking his wife’s life.

Local police stated, “He is in police custody at a local hospital while he is being treated for a medical condition unrelated to the homicide or his contact with law enforcement.

“Once he is released from the hospital, which may be days from now, he is expected to be booked into jail. Haynes’ charges will be released once he is booked.”

Haynes wrestled for about 14 years, battling against the likes of Savage and Hercules Hernandez at the height of his career before being relegated to the independent circuit during his latter days in the ring.
