Former Trump administration official Mike Gill dies days after DC carjacking

Former President Donald Trump is assuredly among those mourning the death of former administration official and loving family man Mike Gill, who died this weekend just days after being shot during a carjacking in Washington, D.C., as the Post Millennial reports.

Gill was the chief operating officer of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission during Trump's tenure in office and is being remembered for his many gifts, both professional and personal.

Horrific crime unfolds

According to reports, Gill was sitting in his car on K Street waiting to drive his wife home from work, when assailant Artell Cunningham, 28, approached, entered the vehicle, and shot him around 5:45 p.m.

The attacker then fled on foot and attempted to steal yet another vehicle at around 7 p.m., ultimately shooting Alberto Vazquez, 35, who also died.

Cunningham went on to steal two more cars before firing a weapon at a D.C. police officer and a trooper with the Maryland State Police in the wee hours of the next day.

It was around 4:30 a.m. that the suspect was fatally wounded by officers in New Carrollton, Maryland after he approached them with a pair of guns.

Grieving widow speaks out

Though he clung to life for five days following the shooting, Gill passed away on Saturday, leaving his wife Kristina to issue a statement announcing the dreaded outcome.

“It is with profound sadness that I wish to inform the community of the passing of my husband, Mike Gill. His sudden departure has left a void in our lives that can never be filled. In this time of grief, we are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, and the community, and extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has reached out to offer condolences and assistance,” she wrote.

The statement went on, “Mike was not only a devoted husband and father but also a cherished son, brother, and friend. Over the course of his remarkable life, Mike brought people together and made them feel included, supported, and loved.”

“Above all, Mike spoke with pride and love about his family, especially our children, Sean, Brian, and Annika. For those who wish to honor Mike's memory, we ask that you cherish the moments shared and keep him in your thoughts an prayers,” Gill's wife concluded.

Lawlessness decried

Conservative pundits responded to the news of Gill's death with a biting assessment of the soft-on-crime stance taken by liberal leaders in cities such as D.C., with Chaya Raichik of Libs of Tik Tok fame declaring, “Democrats have turned D.C. into a lawless hellhole and this is the tragic result. RIP Mike Gill. Praying for his family.”

Commentator Collin Rugg condemned the political trajectory he feels has created the conditions in D.C. which have allowed violent crime to proliferate, declaring the capital city a “liberal paradise,” but whether Gill's death will serve as a wake-up call to those reluctant to prosecute offenses of this nature, only time will tell.
