Former 'American Idol' singer arrested on child porn charges

Those affiliated with the world-famous singing show American Idol are likely horrified by the latest news surrounding a former contestant.

Benjamin Glaze, who auditioned for the show in 2018 and even received a kiss from judge and famous singer Katy Perry, has been arrested for the possession of child sexual abuse material, allegedly.

"As part of the investigations, the Spider Unit obtained a search warrant for Glaze’s residence. During the search, a smartphone was recovered that was found to contain over 700 images and videos of child sexual abuse material,” said the Tulsa police.

“On 10/18/2024, an arrest warrant was issued for Benjamin Isaac Dewitt Glaze for Aggravated Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Glaze was located and arrested on the afternoon of 10/18/2024 by the Spider Unit and booked into the Tulsa County Jail for his warrant,” officials continued.

The now 26-year-old former contestant was only 19 when he auditioned for the show.

During his audition, he mentioned that he had “never been in a relationship, and I can’t kiss a girl without being in a relationship.”

Perry then asked if he would kiss her on the cheek. When he agreed, she turned and kissed him on the mouth.

Glaze was reportedly furious.

“Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no. I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But, for me, I was raised in a conservative family, and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special,” Glaze told the New York Times at the time.

It seems Glaze now has bigger matters to worry about then a surprise kiss from a pop star.

For now, all we can do is wait to see if Glaze is found guilty.

Keeping our children safe should always be a top priority and we commend the police for taking action against these disturbing allegations.
