Florida Supreme Court disbars attorney over violation of suspension order

The Florida Supreme Court just dropped the HAMMER of justice.

The decision is final -- Florida Attorney Rasheed Karim Allen-Dawson's days of practicing law are OVER.

Allen-Dawson was disbarred “effectively immediately” after a court order was filed on August 1st.

“After being suspended from the practice of law by order of the Supreme Court of Florida, Allen-Dawson failed to provide notice of his suspension to all clients and courts as required. Allen-Dawson also continued engaging in the practice of law after the effective date of his suspension in violation of the order of the Supreme Court. As a result, Allen-Dawson was held in contempt and disbarred, effective immediately due to his existing suspension,” the bar report read.

Who on earth thinks it is a GOOD IDEA to continue to practice law and violate a suspension order?

Allen-Dawson got what he deserved, and we commend the Florida Supreme Court for demanding accountability from lawyers like him.

No one is above the law in this country and the sooner people like Allen-Dawson wake up and realize that, the BETTER.

Allen-Dawson was not alone in the attorneys recently held accountable in the bar report.

According to the bar report, Charles Edwin Lykes Jr. was suspended from practicing law until further order, Willishia Brenay Plant was suspended from practicing for 180 days, Larry Edward Powers Jr. was issued an EMERGENCY suspension until further order, and Shaquandra Arita Woods received disciplinary revocation with “leave to reapply for readmission effective 30 days.”

The other State Supreme Courts would be wise to follow in the Florida Supreme Court’s footsteps and hold their law professionals accountable when necessary.

For now, we say good riddance to Allen-Dawson.

We hope that the other Florida attorneys reprimanded can learn from the example set in Allen-Dawson's case and do a better job in the future before they also join him on the list of disbarred Florida lawyers.
