Flashback: Murkowski Voted for Biden Nominees in Defiance of GOP Multiple Times

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) has sparked outrage among Republicans after voting against Defense Secretary Nominee Pete Hegseth, who was still confirmed by a 51-50 vote in the Senate.

Murkowski joined Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Susan Collins (R-ME) forming a triangle of GOP lawmakers opposing Hegseth's nomination, leading to a split vote that led to Vice President JD Vance stepping in to cast the tie-breaking endorsement.

All three senators are now under fire, as they all have voting histories that completely undermine their claims that they had a "conscientious" objection to Hegseth over his alleged lack of qualifications.

In the case of Murkowski, she repeatedly voted against the GOP in favor of over a dozen nominees during the Biden administration.

Most importantly, she voted for Biden's Defense secretary, Lloyd Austin, who was on the board of defense contractor Raytheon and would go on to oversee the disastrous evacuation from Afghanistan that led to the deaths of 13 U.S. soldiers.

Trump Betrayed

Murkowski, Collins, and McConnell watched Trump win a decisive mandate from the American people but decided they were going to stand in the way of his agenda with their vote against Hegseth.

To make matters worse, Murkowski hardly had any complaints with former President Joe Biden's appointees, nearly all of whom were grossly incompetent and did untold damage to the nation.

Murkowski didn't care about Lloyd Austin serving on the board of a major military contractor, but she cares about Hegseth's "lack of qualifications" despite his exceptional service record and plans to reform the U.S. armed forces.

Hegseth was an exemplary servicemember, winning two Bronze Stars and two Army Commendation Medals before retiring a major because he was targeted by the Biden administration for his Christian tattoos, which were labeled by some as "extremist."

He saw firsthand what the left was doing to the military, and many believe that makes him infinitely qualified to purge the rot and make the U.S. military a lethal fighting force instead of a social engineering experiment for leftists.

However, so-called "Republicans" like Murkowski and McConnell didn't see things that way and chose to instead expose themselves as betrayers and backstabbers.

Removing the Rot

The 51-50 vote to confirm Hegseth when the GOP holds a comfortable majority in the Senate has enraged Republicans and, no doubt, President Donald Trump.

For many, the question is what to do about McConnell, Murkowski, and Collins. It's clear that those three must be removed from the Senate, and the good news is that McConnell is already leaving once his current term is over.

For the other two, strategists and organizers need to get to work destroying their images and ensuring that they step aside, even if it costs the GOP those two seats.

These Republicans have been allowed to remain in positions of power for far too long, and there is no better time than now to send a message that the old days of double-dealing and backstabbing are over in Trump's GOP.
