First flight to Guantanamo Bay leaves El Paso

Donald Trump had a brilliant idea to make use of our facilities at Guantanamo Bay (GTMO).

It was recently announced that Trump would send the worst of the worst of illegals to the facility.

He delivered on that promise with the first GTMO flight having left El Paso on Tuesday.

Time to Go

GMTO was originally used as a holding facility for terrorists, reportedly the site of many “black” interrogations.

The facility can hold up to 30,000 detainees and it is, for the most part, sitting empty right now.

After signing the Laken Riley Act, Trump announced that he would be using it to house violent migrants who entered the country illegally until they could be deported.

While the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not say how many illegals were on the first flight from El Paso, it made it clear that GTMO would be the new holding facility of these “high-level threat migrants.”

In addition to DHS and DoD staff, elements of several military commands were also assigned to GMTO over the weekend.

There are now reportedly about 150 troops working at GTMO, which has Democrats up in arms.

For example, Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) stated, “As a reminder, the situation on the border does not merit the use of military resources-El Paso currently has capacity, apprehensions are down, and the use of Guantanamo Bay is predicted to cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

“These measures are nothing more than unnecessary and cruel political theater and a gross misuse of federal funds and military personnel.”

I beg to differ… when you have violent gang members, drug dealers, terrorists, and cartel members coming across the border, the military is exactly what is needed to lock this down.

We are literally talking about defending our borders, so I have no problem with these criminals getting a taste of GTMO and seeing a military presence there to keep them in check.

But to be clear, this will not be their permanent home, as Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth made quite clear.

It is a temporary holding station to house these violent illegals until they can be deported back to their home countries.

And if it reduces the risk they will have any contact with society, I am all for it.
