Firefighters Union Declines to Endorse Harris
These days, unless it is a law enforcement union, a Republican has virtually no shot at getting an endorsement.
That being the case, a non-endorsement for a Democrat is a victory.
And that is a victory that Donald Trump and Republicans will take after the Firefighters Union decided on its involvement in the 2024 election.

Unlike the Teamsters Union, the International Association of Fire Fighters actually listened to its membership.
The Teamsters took several votes, all backing Trump, so rather than upset Democrats too much, leadership just decided not to endorse anyone.
The IAFF, however, took a vote, and its membership, by a whopping 1.2%, decided not to endorse anyone, which is a crushing blow to Harris.
Union President Edward A. Kelly said that the board of the union "determined that we are better able to advocate for our members and make progress on the issues that matter to them if we, as a union, are standing shoulder-to-shoulder. This decision, which we took very seriously, is the best way to preserve and strengthen our unity."
I respect that decision far more than I do the Teamsters sitting it out because they don’t want the money train to dry up.
At least, in this case, they did exactly what the membership wanted.
The decision comes after both Senator JD Vance (R-OH) and Governor Tim Walz were given the opportunity to address the union members during their convention.
It was clear there was resistance to both sides, so, honestly, I think this is the best decision.
Having said that, Donald Trump will see this as a complete and total victory, especially after leadership immediately endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
On the flip side, this is a smack in the face to Harris who has now had two powerful unions decide to sit out who traditionally back a Democrat candidate.
It just goes to show that the shell is cracking a little. Now, we just need a pry bar to open it all the way and destroy that party.
