Chris Magnus Finally Resigns from Post

After being faced with serious pressure, a top Biden official has finally turned in his resignation.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Chris Magnus has finally resigned.

He initially resisted the pressure, but he caved on Saturday night and turned in his resignation.

Fall Guy

This firing is all about optics, nothing more.

Joe Biden and Secretary Mayorkas are trying to make it look like they are doing something about immigration.

After a report surfaced that Magnus was taking catnaps during staff meetings, he gave them the excuse they needed to finger a sacrificial lamb.

Magnus had been told by Mayorkas earlier in the week to resign or be fired.

Toward the week's end, Magnus replied that he was not going to resign.

Less than 48 hours later, he did, writing, "Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Senate confirmed Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection over the past year. It has been a privilege and honor to be part of your administration.

"I am submitting my resignation effective immediately but wish you and your administration the very best going forward. Thank you again for this tremendous opportunity."

I don't know if it was a matter of Mayorkas calling his bluff or if he just decided it was no longer fighting, but I am glad he is gone!
