FEMA supervisor fired for instructing relief employees to skip Trump-supporting homes
During Hurricane Milton's aftermath, the last thing anyone expected to worry about was whether they would get help or not based on their POLITICAL beliefs.
Unfortunately, a former employee of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) allegedly made sure that was taken into account.
According to multiple persons helping provide relief to those affected by Hurricane Milton, Marn’i Washington said to AVOID helping homes with Trump signs on multiple occassions.
Because of Washington’s alleged instructions, 20 homes hit by the hurricane were not offered help.
After an employee of FEMA came forward to share the truth about what happened during the relief, the story went viral.
Since then, the Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Deanne Criswell has taken action against Washington’s alleged instructions.
Washington has now been fired.
Criswell issued a statement to the New York Post that let everyone know how FEMA handled the allegations against Washington.
“I want to be clear to all of my employees and the American people, this type of behavior and action will not be tolerated at FEMA and we will hold people accountable if they violate these standards of conduct,” said Criswell.
However, some may argue that Washington being fired is simply not enough.
Because of Washington’s decision to discriminate against Trump supporters, the residents of those 20 homes were not able to qualify for FEMA assistance.
While we commend FEMA for holding Washington accountable, what about the rest of the damage done to those affected by her alleged actions?
Something like this should NEVER be allowed to happen and FEMA needs to take drastic measures to make it up to those affected as well as ensure it never happens again.
Do you think that the Federal Emergency Management Agency owes the Americans residing in those 20 homes more than just firing the employee responsible for this sick order?
