FBI: ODI Office Closed in December

The FBI has announced that it has closed its Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), more commonly referred to as its DEI office.

There was no reason given for the closure, but I think we all know why this happened.

With Donald Trump coming into office and Kash Patel his FBI nominee, the writing was clearly on the wall for all things DEI related.

Time to Go

The FBI did confirm the office had been shut down, stating, "In recent weeks, the FBI took steps to close the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), effective by December 2024.”

DEI policies have backfired horribly, even being pointed out as a possible cause of the breakdown in protection for Donald Trump when he was shot.

The department also came under attack by Senator Marsha Washburn (R-TN), who claimed the policies of the office “endangered” American citizens, citing the attack in New Orleans.

Her letter, in part, stated, "I am deeply concerned that—under your leadership—the Bureau has prioritized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives over its core mission of protecting the American people.”

She also posted on X, "The question is why were they allowed to be focused on DEI in the first place? The FBI should be focused on catching criminals, not winning participation trophies."

After the closing was announced, Trump quickly posted on Truth Social that he wanted all records preserved so his administration could investigate possible corruption.

Honestly, I am not sure what he is talking about in terms of corruption, so we will have to wait and see on that front.

The closing of the office will likely be positively perceived in the FBI world, with some former agents having pushed back against the office.

For instance, former agent Nicole Parker stated, "I appreciate all forms of diversity. Make no mistake of that. What I do not appreciate is when there is a constant push for social justice weaponization at the FBI whose top priorities are to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution."

She went on to call DEI a “dangerous distraction,” and I could not agree more.

I don’t really care what private businesses do on this front, and although I may disagree with their policies, it is their business.

However, when it comes to first responders, our military, and the government, all of which are paid for with taxpayer dollars, we need the most qualified, deserving candidates, not candidates who check the right box.
